Dr. L. Santecchia
A particular type of Brachysyndactyly classified by American surgeons as Five Fingered Hand or Five Fingers on a Plane. From an anatomical point of view, all fingers are on the same axis and the thumb is not distinguished from the other four long fingers.
In this particular situation the reconstruction does not consist in a real pollicization, but in a radialization of the thumb with a detachment of the intrinsic muscles anchorage and their repositioning in a correct way. This procedure allows freeing the thumb, widening of the first commissure to gain the correct ergonomic use of the hand
